The basis for population growth and policy option scenario is the variation in birth, death and migration rates. Population of Sonipat city is projected to stabilize around a value of 397,425 by 2035 for a policy option scenario proposed to achieve this target. Recycling and composting of solid waste are considered to estimate the quantity of the waste remaining to be dumped at landfill site. Segregation of recyclable fraction and composting of biodegradable part of the solid waste should be essential to manage the waste of medium-sized cities.
